high point market
this weekend i flew down to North Carolina to check out the Surya showroom in High Point which is the super bowl of furniture markets.
when you arrive in town everywhere you look..there’s Surya! their brand identity is massively in evidence. even my name tag hung from a Surya emblazoned lanyard! walking into their lofty space is beautiful; rugs are elegantly displayed on the walls and in room settings. (below is where you enter, and above faces the bar that was serving all day!
when we walked outside to get to the other buildings..surya stickers advertising their showroom lined the walkway..oh my!
the showroom itself is a visual feast..particularly the pillow wall that lines the back of their space..so many colorful designs.
i was delighted to see the vintage looks of designer florence broadhurst having always been a fan.
fashion dude peter som had a pile introduction that was a twist on the ever popular chevron..it will be interesting what other work he will add to the lineup.
kate spain was another new designer for Surya, and i thought her pillows were a fab interpretation of her happy prints.
throughout the space are vignettes like the one below showing a different way to accessorize a space inventively using rugs and accessories from surya..isn’t it cool the way they layered rugs from my collection with the morrocan style poofs?
another new item were these assorted benches using the rugs as a textile..i think the hex is so sharp when used this way..but after all this is the one i have in my living room!
i was psyched to see that they had added the plimpton flame in one of my all time fave color combos the tangerine with taupe & coffee..sweet.
all in all it was an amazing time. the marketers behind this company are on fire, and i was so excited to be a part of it all.
