Day #7 can’t live without : My Stylist + Deva Curls

posted on February 28th, 2013

i cannot talk about my hair gunk with out mentioning my stylist who changed my curly life here in boston.

i used to live in fear of haircuts. since i was 11. almost no matter what i say to the stylist…i leave salons with with an afro. that is how curly my hair is. and i also think most stylists are curly clueless. they just wet down your hair and cut it as if you had straight hair..”you want layers ..right?” no..dude..i just want to get a haircut without coming out like a poodle..n’est ce pas?

then came shan.
thank you lordie.
shan knows his curls..

he cuts dry .. really LOOKING at every curl, and then styles when you are super wet so the curls form these juicy swirls. i cannot say enough. in fact i think i need to go back soon.

the trick with the deva goo though is to get out of the shower super wet..really dripping flip your head upside down scrunch in the goop. scrunch a bit more..then flip back upright..settle and stand still for a few hours. no but seriously..the less you mess or touch your curls at this point the better you will look. thus..in winter..my hair is often a disaster. but that is a whole other tale.

Stay tuned for a recap of all the “THINGS I NEED TO SURVIVE!”
